How would you like those pointed at you?
Evidently those tricky Washington Redskins use their cheerleaders for more than simple team spirit. It has been reported that the Redskins have their cheerleaders bend and stretch in the visitor’s tunnel prior to the start of each home game. Obviously they think the sight of scantily clad gals in compromising positions is enough to mentally throw their opponents off their game. Okay, it’d probably work on me.
I have to give Washington credit. No other team has thought to whore out their women [...]

I love Pittsburgh.
My grandparents were born here. My parents were born here. I was born here. Most of my family still lives here and none of us have any desire to ever leave. I love the city. The sights and sounds. The local culture. And the people. I’ve visited many other places in this country and can honestly say no other city deserves the title of Most Livable or Friendliest more than the ‘Burgh.
However, there is one part of Pittsburgh I’m not proud of. One aspect of the city [...]

Greg Warren.
Every week my game previews make note of which key players are injured. I’m sure many of you check to see if Fatboy Hampton has made weight or if Willie Parker had an unfortunate run in with some crab grass and is out for the week. I’m also pretty sure if I mentioned Greg Warren very few of you would care. In fact, I bet only the most diehard members of Steeler Nation even knew we had a Greg Warren on our team.

Looks like Greg’s a [...]

Her name is Kate Mara.
This Sunday, her loyalties will be divided like those of nobody else. Kate, you see, is the perfect fusion of two of football’s greatest families. Her father, Chris, is the son of legendary New York Giants owner Wellington Mara. Her mother, Kathleen, is the daughter of Tim Rooney, one of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art’s boys.
Kate is an actress. She’s probably best known for playing a nutjob analyst on the greatest show in the history of television “24.” The reason I chose that [...]

The natives are restless in Big D.
After losing three out of their last four games, the Dallas Cowboy players aren’t the only ones pointing fingers and pushing the panic button on their season. Their fans are growing increasing unhappy with the underperformance of a team which featured no less than 11 Pro Bowlers last year. Fair or not, a good deal of their venom is directed toward head coach Wade Phillips. Their collective voices are crying out for one man to save them:
Bill Cowher.
Of course, every team with a [...]

Week 7 Recap: Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

AUTHOR: chris | IN: AFC North, Breaking News, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

Pop Quiz:   How are the Pittsburgh Steelers like a woman’s period?
Answer:  When it comes time to show up, it’s always better late than never.
Yesterday’s 38-10 dismantling of the Cincinnati Bengals wasn’t as easy as the score might indicate.  If you watched the first quarter, then decided to:
- Watch 45 minutes of “Contact”
- Burn a mix CD for a “friend”
- Go on a Starbucks run
- Watch a quarter of woman’s volleyball on ESPNU
- Play Metal Gear Solid
And came back just in time to see the Human Victory Cigar, QB Byron Leftwich, throw a final TD pass in the 4th quarter, you’d [...]

Week 7 Preview: Steelers vs. Bengals

AUTHOR: chris | IN: AFC North, Breaking News, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Winning cures all ills and the Cincinnati Bengals have typified that over the Marvin Lewis era. After the 2005 season, Lewis was praised as a savior for the Bengals organization despite his players’ constant run-ins with the law.  And if winning cures all the ills, losing amplifies all of the ills and after an 8-8 season in which the Bengals blew chance after chance to make the playoffs, gripes about Lewis’ coaching style started to surface. After a tumultuous 7-9 season in 2007, the honeymoon was clearly over and Lewis is probably in his last season with Cincinnati. Unless of [...]

Chad Johnson Needs Help

AUTHOR: chris | IN: AFC North, Breaking News, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson spent the summer throwing a hissy fit.  FIrst, he wanted more money.   Then he wanted traded.  When both plans failed, he implemented Operation Randy Moss whereby he evidently intends to suck this season in hopes the Bungles will think he’s washed up and get rid of him for practically nothing.  When he’s wearing Eagle green or Washington Maroon next season, remember you heard it here first.
Now, being the attention-seeking buffoon that Chad is, he can’t simply follow his plan and fade from the limelight for one measly year.   Nope.  Since he’s not catching [...]

S.O.S (Steelerless On Sunday)

How awesome is that commercial?  I’ve watched it four times in the past hour and still wanna see it again.  Something had to make up for that ridiculous Ben Roethlisberger auditions for ”American Idol” ad which aired last season.   The greatness of Troy Polamalu aside, I’m not prepared to declare it the best Steeler-related commercial ever however.  No, not Mean Joe giving the kid his jersey either.   My favorite will always be, you guessed it, “Nice pick, Cowah!”
Watching Steeler commercials on a continuous loop must mean only one thing:  BYE WEEK.   Yes, this is that one week a year us [...]

LaMarr Woodley Needs Your Help

AUTHOR: chris | IN: AFC North, Breaking News, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

Anybody catch the debate last night?   I’m new to the politics but that was the worst debate I’ve ever seen. They should never let Tom Brokaw near another debate ever. “Gentlemen, please recite your stump speech.” Where is Gwen Ifill when you need her?
In case you missed it, I’ll give you a quick recap:  John McCain aka Viagra McManyhouses called his opponent “that one” and said several other bizarre things that reminded me of my dad.  His entire demeanor was similar to that of your crusty old neighbor yelling, “Get off my lawn!”   Barack Obama aka Lightworker Von Hopenchange [...]
