Super Bowl XLIII Preview: Steelers vs. Cardinals
I know you’re thinking, “Oh great, more analysis!” One of the drawbacks to reaching the Super Bowl is every blogger with an internet connection, every talking head on ESPN, every newspaper columnist still toiling in a dying medium, pretty much anybody vaguely aware of a game called football decides to provide their insights on the outcome. Unfortunately, most of those people have seen the Pittsburgh Steelers play maybe a handful of times which means their opinions are about as educated as the elephant who picked the Steelers to win on Sunday. Maybe Detroit should hire him as their G.M. He’s [...]
Steeler Gal In Bodypaint & Other Stuff
That’s what I call Feelin’ Kinda Sunday. Why aren’t these girls in those NFL ads? I’d rather see them than a bunch of sad lonely fantasy football nerds crying about their lack of success. If any ladies happen to watch this video, please let me stress that something like this would be appreciated FAR more than any overpriced crap from Victoria’s Secret. In fact, if you’re a single gal with a boyfriend who has *cough* commitment issues, this would be a good way to show him you’re definitely marriage material. Notice also the large bosomed Steeler Gal painted a BLACK [...]
Will Steelers Win? Obama Sez “Yes They Can”
That’s President Barack Obama stating his choice for the winner of Super Bowl XLIII. This shouldn’t be surprising considering Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney’s tremendous support during the election. Even without that support, I doubt he’d want to support a team from a state that didn’t even vote for him. Nice pick, Arizona.
Super Bowl XLIII & The Steeler Dynasty
Argue it if you will but the Steelers will be the greatest franchise in NFL football history if they win Super Bowl XLIII. Even if they don’t come out of Tampa Bay with a win, which is unlikely according to the BetUS oddsmakers who have listed the orange and black as -7.5 point favorites, they still could be adorned with this title. With five Vince Lombardi trophies already to their credit, they sit atop the league and are second to nobody. Although Tomlin inherited a team that was built to win, he has done a fantastic job of motivating his [...]
Cardinal Fans Declare War On Steeler Nation
I tried to be nice. Phoenix mayor Phil Gordon, with an assist from the Arizona Cardinal’s goofy looking mascot, decided the best way to pump up a crowd of diehard Cardinal supporters, all twelve of them, was to disgrace the Terrible Towel. I’ve spent the last two weeks poking gentle fun at the team but didn’t have any desire to viciously belittle them like I would have the Philadelphia Eagles had they not choked away yet another NFC Championship game. I’ve resisted picking on them because doing so is like making fun of a short bus kid who shows up [...]
Arizona Has Valleys But No Peaks
During the San Diego Chargers’ playoff victory a few weeks back, ABC cut to a shot of their cheerleaders at every opportunity. Good move, ABC. When the Dallas Cowboys play, FOX makes sure to get their overrated yet still fetching Cowgirls on camera whenever a player so much as downs a punt. The Philadelphia Eagle‘s home for wayward strippers and Tennessee‘s obviously silicone enhanced squads also enjoy plenty of air time whenever their teams play. That’s why I have a question. The Arizona Cardinals have hosted not one but two home playoff games this year. This means their cheerleaders had [...]
“Mean Troy’s” SB Commercial Preview
Every year, one of the most eagerly anticipated aspects of the Super Bowl are the commercials. It’s probably the only time people actually look forward to ad breaks. Many times, the commercials are the highlight of the evening. And when a company manages to come up with 30 seconds of sheer awesomeness, those spots are often remembered for years afterward. Arguably the most famous Super Bowl spot of all time is the 1980 Coca-Cola spot featuring the Steel Curtain’s own Mean Joe Greene. In fact, a couple years back they ran a survey of the most memorable spots of All-Time [...]
Always Bet On Black (And Gold)
The Super Bowl is by far the most bet on sporting event of the year. From straight up wagers made on the outcome to score grids passed out in the office, everybody gets in on the action. Even politicians enjoy making friendly bets. This year, the mayor of Glendale made a bet with Pittsburgh’s Mayor Luke Steelerstahl (or is he back to Ravenstahl?) only a woman could love. If the Cardinals pull the upset of the decade, Heinz Field will have a cactus planted outside for an entire year. Drunken tailgaters will no doubt find creative uses for that one. [...]

Get Your Steeler Gear Ready
With Super Bowl XLIII exactly one week away, Steeler hysteria has reached a fever pitch. There are signs, posters, banners, and flags as far as the eye can see. You can’t throw a rock two feet without hitting someone wearing an item of Steeler paraphernalia. Not that I encourage the throwing of rocks at anybody except tourists from Philadelphia. Since the Big Game is fast approaching, I thought I’d take a minute to help you add to your Black and Gold wardrobe. After all, I have an entire drawer dedicated to my Pittsburgh fanaticism. Believe me, nothing is sweeter on [...]
