Steeler Fans Love Their Fight Songs

That’s the latest song from Rob Parker. For those of you unfamiliar with Rob’s work, he’s kind of a cross between Weird Al Yankovic and Jim Rome. If you go to his youtube page (ID: robparkersongscom), you’ll find all sorts of sports related parody tunes. His work is usually very well done and in this case I have to confess that video brought a little tear to my eye.

Of course, a Steeler playoff run wouldn’t be complete without a fight song. Steeler Nation loves their fight songs. In the 70’s, we had the classic “I gotta feelin’…Pittsburgh’s goin’ to the Super Bowl!” In the 90’s, there was the “Here We Go” song which WDVE played seemingly every twenty minutes. This year, I’ve already been sent the links to four different songs which I failed to post here because this blog has gone green and my first contribution to that cause is to cut down on noise pollution. Which is why you’ll never see Nickelback videos posted here either…

However, besides the above, there has been one other effort worth mentioned. Pittsburgh’s native son Dave Dameshek commissioned somebody to do a pretty cool tribute song called “Stairway to Seven” which you can download right here. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.
