I agree with that to an extent. Cowher once said that if he stayed at WR, he would’ve been a Pro Bowler inside two years. In a way, Slash is like Tim Tebow…a talented athlete who is hard to box into one particular position because he has multi-faceted skills.

I would argue, though, that his throwing ability was a lot better than people remember. His accuracy was mediocre but his arm strength was superb. If he had Thigpen for another 2-3 years, I’m sure his passing numbers would’ve been much better.

I think they should have never taken Stewart away from his Slash position, and I’d bet you we would not even be having this conversation. But being that the QB we had at the time was not producing Stewart had to take over. He was the best we had at the time,, Sorry for him,,

Do we forget that Neal O’Donnel played at least two plays for the Cowboys while wearing a Steeler’s uniform during a Superbowl?

Why mention what they Steelers could have been with him!

I agree. Many Steeler fans only remember the bad plays (regardless of who made them) and forget the good ones. But if you look at Stewart’s stats, he’s pretty high up there.

That being said, I used to think it was a black QB thing. But, after sitting in the stands and hearing some of the things that the fans say about Ben, I think many of them just like to be miserable.

I’m not denying he had moments of immense popularity. But the crowd also turned on him in an instant, often unfairly. Then again, we’re pretty tough on Ben now so it’s definitely a Burgh thing.

As for him not being “elite,” well, people treat Young and Vick as superstars (wasn’t VY taken like 4th overall?) and Terrelle Pryor is everybody’s future star yet Kordell played like they do, only better. So what does that make him?

I guess the source of my frustration is a caller to a talk show who went argued the 90′s Steelers would’ve won championships if they had kept O’Donnell or played Jim Miller. Give me a break. Slash is infinitely better than either of those assclowns.

We can argue Ben vs Bradshaw all day but Kordell should be everybody’s 3rd best QB in Steeler history. I don’t see how that could be disagreed with.
