Big Ben = Next WWE Superstar?
Yesterday, I came home from a long day at work, heated up a container of Ramen Noodles, and sat down in front of the television to unwind. On days after a crushing loss by the Pittsburgh Steelers, my interest in football tends to briefly wane. Making matters worse was the fact our hated rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, were being featured on Monday Night Football. I felt a little better seeing them play like total crap almost the entire first half. My joy was short-lived as soon enough they began to pound on Bill Cowher‘s future team, the hapless Carolina Panthers. [...]
Week 3 Recap: Busted By The Bengals
This is getting old real fast. The Cincinnati Bengals stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers with a come-from-behind 23-20 victory on Sunday. This marks the second loss in as many weeks for the World Champions. It’s also the second week in a row where the Black and Gold came out of the tunnel like Superman and walked off the field as Clark Kent. Teams have finally learned the best way to prevent a patented Ben Roethlisberger comeback is to have him watching from the sidelines until only a few seconds are left. Once again, this game looked to be a blowout in [...]
Bengals Owner Knows How To Inspire His Team
Watching this video sends a shiver down my spine. It makes Al Pacino’s “one more inch” speech from Any Given Sunday seem lame by comparison. That fiery orator is Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown. He’s a member of the Lucky Genes Club as his father was legendary NFL coach Paul Brown. Hopes were high that some of his father’s genius was passed down to his son when Mike assumed control of the team in 1991. Unfortunately, despite Mike’s charismatic leadership, the Bungles have only managed to accumulate 102 wins against 188 losses. The Bengals were featured on HBO’s documentary/reality series [...]
Know Thy Enemy: Bengals Q&A
Last week, Mike over at Bear Goggles On answered some of our questions about his team. Since his words seemed tragically prophetic (I’m looking at you, Johnny Knox), I thought we’d go behind enemy lines once again to take a look at this week’s opponent, the Cincinnati Bengals. Mickey over at WhoDeyFans agreed to answer some questions about this year’s squad. Let’s take a look at his answers… Has Carson Palmer rebounded from his injury plagued 2008? As far as the injury, I think he is physically 100%. However, after having a whole season off, and then an ankle injury [...]
Week 2 Recap: Better Hide The Towel Dispensers
The Pittsburgh Steelers tasted their first defeat of the 2009 season with a heartbreaking 17-14 loss to the Chicago Bears. As is usually the case with the Steelers, this was a loss which didn’t have to be. The Black and Gold had every opportunity to win this game and but for one individual failing twice in crucial situations, their fortunes could have easily been reversed. I won’t belabor who the goat was because he knows who he is and we know who he is. What I will say is every Sheetz in Western Pennsylvania better be on high alert over [...]
Dick’s 100 Reasons To Root For The Steelers
I’m sure we all need something to cheer us up right about now. In my never-ending quest to partner up with great companies looking to reach the loyal members of Steeler Nation, I was recently contacted by Dick’s Sporting Goods. Dick’s, headquartered in Pittsburgh, is one of the largest sporting good stores in the United States, offering a huge variety of sports equipment and apparel. Don’t believe me? Visit their website and check out the tremendous variety of Steelers-related merchandise they offer by clicking here. Dick’s is currently doing a promotion where they give away a $100 gift card every [...]
Previewing Dem Stillers vs. Da Bears
I began this week by posting a Playboy Playmate wearing Steeler-inspired bodypaint. Since this site has a number of female readers, I feel it’s only fair to finish the week with something for them. Therefore, enjoy these GQ style photos of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. Da Bears, of course, are this week’s opponent of your Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. In order to better know our enemy, I reached out to Mike at Bear Goggles On to answer some questions about the modern day Monsters of the Midway. When the Bears acquired Captain Crybaby Pouty McPouterson Droopy McGee Jay [...]
The Steelers Are Real American Heroes
In 1985, the Chicago Bears won their one and only Super Bowl Championship. One of the stars of that team was a 370 pound defensive tackle named William “The Refrigerator” Perry. In addition to playing on one of the greatest defenses of all-time, Perry was also used as a fullback in short-yardage situations. He even scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl. The combination of his size, affable personality, and versatile play transformed The Fridge into a pop culture icon. Also during the 80′s, one of the most popular afternoon cartoons was G.I. Joe. Until Hollywood decided to bastardize my [...]
Madden Curse Claims Polamalu
I’m a superstitious man. I won’t walk under a ladder. I don’t open an umbrella until I’m outside. And if the Pittsburgh Steelers win on Sunday, I make sure to put aside my socks, underwear, and whichever of my twelve jerseys I was wearing so I’m sure to wear them again next week. Hey, don’t laugh. They won the Super Bowl didn’t they? So you can imagine my horror when I found out Troy Polamalu was going to be on the cover of the Madden 10 video game. You see, there’s this thing known as the Madden Curse. Whoever graces [...]
Playboy Underestimates The Steelers
On any given week, I receive a number of messages from people looking to promote something. Most I simply ignore because there’s no benefit for either my readers or this site. Some help keep NPC alive by becoming advertisers. Others, like Crocs or M&Ms, agree to sponsor a contest in exchange for a little publicity. You’d be surprised at the variety of companies I’ve talked with over the past 3 years. However, Playboy is one word I never expected to see in a subject heading. I was contacted in regards to Playboy’s 38th annual NFL Preview, which is in their [...]
