My last post covered the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers. One thing I discussed was their long-standing policy of not negotiating new contracts during the season.   Another of their policies is to always give their head coach a new deal when he’s down to two years remaining on the current one.  If nothing else, this prevents any messy “lame duck” situations from occurring.  Well, guess what? With the Pittsburgh Penguins embarrassing flame out in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, Pittsburgh sports fans have entered the Twilight Zone in terms of rooting interests.  While the Pirates have a respectable young core, they’re still a couple years away from being interesting.   And with training camp a little less than three months away, it’s a tad early to be discussing the 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers. If it wasn’t for bad luck, some people wouldn’t have any luck at all. What do you collect? I admit to being a tad obsessive compulsive.  My comic book collection is meticulously organized as are my dvds, pornos, and books about war.  If that’s not enough, I also collect issues of Sports Illustrated which feature Pittsburgh Steelers on the cover.  My collection is by no means complete (I’m not exactly rich enough to afford back issues from 1975) but it does go all the way back to Kordell Stewart on the cover of SI For Kids. With the excitement over the draft and of course the ongoing Ben Roethlisberger drama, I neglected to mention that the Pittsburgh Steelers 2010 schedule has been announced.   According to Sports Illustrated, this list of teams is ranked near the bottom (21st)  in degree of difficulty.  Of course, any sort of predictions based on that information are pretty much worthless.  In 2008, the Steelers faced the most difficult schedule in 25 years yet emerged 12-4 and won the Super Bowl.  Last year, they enjoyed one of the five easiest schedules but still had a terrible season.
