The old golden rules of football: Offense puts people in the stands,defense wins games and special teams win championships.If the Jets can’t run the ball and have to depend on Sanchez the Steelers have a big edge.If its balanced and comes down to special teams its the Jets.

Sanchez’s back up is Mark Brunell.

Yeah, the special teams situation scares the crap out of me. The Steelers dug themselves out of one hole by giving away cheap points but I don’t like them tempting fate. As you say, the Jets offense isn’t exactly a high-powered juggernaut so you make them earn their scores and I like our chances.

Oh and when noting Ben was sacked 6 times last week, remember Big Flo missed the game due to flu. He’ll be back. And Jon Scott also got dinged up for some plays. I’m all for running the ball as I noted but the Steelers best bet is to come out firing, put some points on the board, then put the pressure on Sanchez to keep up. Mendy will be valuable at killing clock after we’re up but playing it conservative from the get-go plays to the Jets advantage.

I agree about the running game Mike T. I don’t think we need a break out Chris Johnson type perfomance from Mendy. I think like you say 60 yo 80 with a couple 10+ runs in there shuold cover it. I think that whether he is successful or not he should still haul the rock about 20 to 22 times. Through in some Redzone Redman for another 8 to 10 runs for 20 yards or more and that should be enought to take some pressure off Ben.

I won’t lie. Jets scare me. They scare me because they’re so unpredictable. Special Teams is what probably scares me the most here, especially with Will Allen and Battle out (sure tacklers). One of these run back and game may be that much closer to over. Most pivotal player here might be Squeeze-Him.

That said, I don’t fear Jets offense, as long as we have some sort of decent running game. 60-80 yards from Mend to help control the clock.

Next to our weak Special Teams, I’d say the only other scare will be can we pick up the blitz. 6 sacks on Ben last week! If we’re playing from behind (from one of those crap special teams tds) and have to rely on the pass, I can totally see them stripping the ball from Ben or making a pick. Hope Ben has 3 eyes and plays super smart if our running game isn’t there.

Other than the above, we should be winning this game. It’s ours to lose. We play mistake-free and control the clock, we’re the most dangerous team on the planet.

Can anyone name the backup Qb for N.Y. if we turn dirty Sanchez into a pretzel?
