I wouldn't be so sure about Gay not being back, though. Ditto with Flo. $2.5 sounds like a lot to pay a backup (assuming Colon is healthy) but look at the injuries we had this year. Can they afford to let him walk? Anyway, we can go through position-by-position but that kinda proves my point. Signing Woodley may mean gutting the team (and whether you like them or not, losing Gay, Flo, and ARE would be gutting it). One of the things they did well this year was survive injuries...keep cutting guys you can't afford to keep cheaper unproven guys and that stops happening. While Dix won't buy us much on cap room Batch may just stick around another year if Dix wants to find greener pastures. ARE might not be back so that would be yet another 1.2 in cap space. Either way I think we can buy a little wiggle room. Besides even though the owners and players are arguing over who gets the biggest slice of the pie as long as they don't tick of us fans too much that pie will continue to get bigger year after year.
