The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Best Ever…Quarterback

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

After sorting through the best seasons in Steelers history, let’s have a look at the Black and Gold’s best player to ever play the glamour position, quarterback. It’s arguably the hardest position in sports to play, but even with that, quarterbacks get far too much credit and far too much blame.

The 2011 schedule is set up for another successful Steelers season

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: None Yet

As talks that the NFL lockout is getting closer and closer to being resolved, I am really starting to get excited for next season. Looking at the Steeler’s schedule, I think the team is set up well to make another run for a division title, and a possible trip back to the Super Bowl. There are three key moments in the schedule that will make or break the upcoming season for the black and gold.

The Morning Cup of Black & Gold: Steelers News & Notes

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: None Yet

At noon today is the celebration of Hines Ward winning the DWTS mirror ball trophy.  City county building.  Be there…       With all this talk about Ike Taylor as being the priority at signing a new contract, some Steelers like Willie Colon have fallen under the radar – at least in the media.  Tomlin and linemen coach Sean Kugler have played out the scenario of moving Colon to guard in 2011 if Max Starks comes back healthy.  Tackle or guard, I think that Colon is worth pursuing.  Colon will either be a RFA or an UFA.  The more likely [...]

Best of the NFL: AFC North, My Take

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

So, this morning Craig posted an article by James Walker of the ESPN AFC North Blog, and he posted his take on the “Best of the NFL: AFC North Players.” His list is at best pathetic and phoned in. The dude clearly didn’t make even the slighest effort to do this thing right, so I am going to try and succeed where he failed, and come up with my own list of AFC North bests. I’ll try and be as diplomatic and unbiased as possible, but we all know that likely won’t happen. I’ll do a different page for each [...]

The Morning Cup of Black & Gold: Steelers News & Notes

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well it’s a beautiful morning here back in the ‘Burgh.  It’s good to be home – even if just for a week. ESPN is featuring a Best of the NFL week and here is part of that list for the AFC North.  No surprise that Big Ben is rated as the best clutch QB.  Flacco is rated as the best arm in the division.  Fine, I’ll give him that, but the best arm won’t help you if you can’t win games in the clutch.

Ben Roethlisberger’s foot injury has been blown out of proportion

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

A lot of people have been in an uproar over the recent reports that Big Ben is contemplating having foot surgery this late into the offseason. I think it’s much to do about nothing. As the media is starved for anything new to write about besides the lockout, reports that Roethlisberger had played through the season with a broken foot have dominated the headlines.

The Morning Cup of Black & Gold: Steelers News & Notes

Come one come all to the City County building on Thursday to celebrate Hines Ward’s victory on Dancing With The Stars.  If you want to be up on stage with Ward and partner Kym Johnson, you can send a YouTube vid of you and a partner dancing.  If you become one of the three final couples, you will dance-off and be judged by Ward and Kym for a chance to win an autographed Ward jersey. Sweet!  My family and I will be in town this week, so I will certainly be there… just not dancing.

2010 Pittsburgh Steelers Season in Review – Week 11 vs. Oakland Raiders

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Comedian Dave Chappell jokes that there is a sign on the bridge from San Francisco to Oakland that says, “Welcome to Oakland, bitch!” It’s not that hard to believe. If there is a team more well known than the Ravens for thuggery, it is the Oakland Raiders.

The Morning Cup of Black & Gold: Steelers News & Notes

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ike Taylor’s most recent comments is the big piece of news coming out of the weekend.  You can read my thoughts on that in a post from yesterday:  See You Ike:…. Players get updated on lockout talks for the first time in almost four months.  That’s because things are finally happening worth updating that players.  That’s pretty significant and brings more hope that the lockout will end by mid-July.  The players are projected to get more money under the new CBA even though they are getting less of cut from the overall revenue sharing.  That settles fine with them it [...]

See You Ike: Why There Will Be No Tears Shed When the Pittsburgh Steelers Fail to Sign Ike Taylor

AUTHOR: | IN: Steelers | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

I guess ‘fail’ is too strong a word of negative connotations towards the Steelers to use when Ike Taylor finally signs with another NFL team this year.  I would describe it more as a ‘choice.’  There’s been a strong outcry from many in the media and across the Nation that the Steelers defense is scuuuhhhrewwwd if Taylor discontinues being a part of this team.  But if Taylor really wants to stay, he’ll stay won’t he?
