The Morning Cup of Black & Gold: Steelers News & Notes

Why oh why is playing football never enough for football players?  Why do they need to dip their fingers into other financial endeavors that only get them into trouble?  Discuss…

Piggy backing on Tomlin’s football camp mentioned in yesterday’s Morning Cup, here is a report on Lamar Woodley and Antonio Brown being part of a free camp for youths in Michigan.  Woodley started the camp with Cliff Ryan, but runs the program himself.  He has acquired help from numerous former Michigan natives and players.

Another Steelers player giving back.  This time Max Starks is taking the ‘let’s make a difference in the community’ stage.  He is going to build the Max Starks Education and Sports Center somewhere near Orlando, FL.  It will be a center that will feature a combination of athletics, education and research for anyone, not just young ones.  His main goal, however, with the whole complex is to help stamp out illiteracy.  I guess good can come from the lockout as the lockout has allowed Starks to move forward with this project by attending meetings and seeing his vision all the way through.
