Roethlisberger Listed As ‘Questionable,’ But Will He Still Play?

"“If we lose guys due to suspension or injury, the standard is still the standard. We won’t blink in that regard. We’ve been very consistent in that area.”"

Those words from Mike Tomlin have been stated time and time again when the Steelers have faced injuries as an adversary since his tenure as head coach.  Classy, to the point and a ‘No whiny B.S.’ response like you would get from other coaches facing significant injuries on their team.

There are numerous players who are still undecided as ‘good to go’ for this Monday night against the Niners.  James Harrison, Troy Polamalu, Ben Roethlisberger, Maurkice Pouncey and LaMarr Woodley – all of them studs for the Black & Gold.  The Steelers have dealt these men being out of the lineup before and prevailed.  ‘The standard is still the standard.”  This particular combination is a little scary since all of these guys have at least one Pro Bowl appearance since entering the league.  They all impact that game in certain ways – the combined effort being a force to be reckoned with.

Inarguably the biggest Iron Man within that list is Ben Roethlisberger.  As long as he can move his legs and arms, he’ll play.  He’s played with broken this and that.  But, high ankle sprains are tricky to heal from.  We saw what it can do to his mobility on Thursday night.  It will certainly be an adjusted game plan should he start – more shotgun snaps whether it’s a run play or pass.  Knowing Ben’s history with injuries and playing through them – will he start this Monday and overcome this injury?
