Rodgers didn't play awful, his WR's just crapped the bed by dropping so many wide-open passes. Moreover, the Giants Defense matches up well with the Packers' Offense because they can bring heat with their Front-4. Green Bay's Defense was simply exposed as the fraudulent bunch they were by a solid QB that played relatively mistake-free football, and capitalized on Green Bay's mistakes. Rust may have played a factor, but if a team is constituted of professionals and decent coaching staffs, the layoffs should be a non-issue no matter how "hot" the opponent is.

As for the Steelers not resting Ben...Had Batch started they would have likely had a better chance at Candlestick. Furthermore, if they had come out with a "W" they would have clinched a Bye. The loss at Denver should rest almost squarely on LeBeau and his ridiculous Defensive strategy and lack of adjustments.

Numerous teams have advanced in the post-season with 1st Round Byes and resting their players. Look at the Pats. earlier this decade ('03, '04), Seattle and Philly rested their starters on their way to Super Bowl appearances, or even the Colts and Saints as recently as '09. It's just a matter of if the players get it done in big moments and specific matchups.

We'll never know what would have happened if Ben sat. And honestly it just hurts to think about.
