ProFootballTalk (PFT) reports via Twitter and here that the Steelers have cut four players from the roster. Of those, Bryant McFadden and Arnaz Battle have been given the pink slip.
Tight end Miguel Chavis and linebacker Eric Clanton have also been waived. PFT reports that the Steelers will save about $3.5 million with these cuts. McFadden was signed as a starter a couple years ago and never really reached that level once he returned from the Cardinals. He played mainly on special teams and was pretty much a no factor all season long. The same can be said about Battle. Given numerous chances in camps to prove himself as a good receiver, he seemed to squander those and only sneak on to the special teams roster.
3.5 mil down, 18.5 to go. Steelers have a long way to fit the cap. Expect to see more cuts in the next few weeks before combine time.
