Will Steelers Land Tolbert From Chargers?

Rumor out of San Diego and also reported by ESPN is that the Steelers are highly interested in Chargers running back and free agent Mike Tolbert.  Tolbert, 1,410 yards and 20 TD’s in 4 seasons, also has a decent set of hands coming out of the backfield – think MeMo but better.  He also is a lower the head and shoulder kind of back – much like Redman already is and what we all wish Mendenhall would be.

Quite frankly, I still don’t understand the need to waste money on a back like Tolbert.  He’s an ok back, but why waste money if the majority of folks feel that Redman is an ‘ok back’?  If anything, he would be a great replacement for MeMo who is also an unrestricted this off season.  Tolbert made $1.8 million last season, and would probably be seeking more – $2.5 or greater.  Can the Steelers afford the acquisition of Tolbert?  Should they even pursue this guy?

Should the Steelers pursue RB Mike Tolbert?
