Peyton Manning To Sign With Denver – Is Steelers Mike Wallace Next?

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s being reported all over the place that Peyton Manning has chosen to venture a mile high and play for the Denver Broncos next season.  He has asked his agent to negotiate a deal, and very soon the Sweepstakes will be over.  This is big news for Broncos fans, Tebow fans, and NFL fans in general.  But, how is this news for Steelers fans?

Well yesterday, I wrote a post that put out there the idea of Mike Wallace being signed by the Broncos were they to land Manning.  The first half of that equation is over, and now it is only time until the Broncos start looking for a supporting cast for Manning to throw to.  Enter Steelers Mike Wallace – deep threat, decent route running and one strong arm and masterful offensive captain away from becoming one of the best receivers in the NFL.  The Broncos have the money to spend and may be willing to part with their first round pick, now that they’ve filled the biggest gap in their offense – a good QB.

This is far from a sure thing with Wallace.  But I would be surprised if he DOESN’T end up in Denver.  And, the Broncos GM should get his head examined for getting the job done at QB, but not giving Manning anyone to throw to.  I’ve been emotionally prepared for this – Wallace’s exit – since the season ended.  Are you?
