Arians had been talking for the past severla years about retirement and the Steelers management jumped on the term to ease Bruce out with a semblance of dignity...rather than firing him. Who knows maybe Arians is that type of person who threatens to leave, just so he will be begged to stay.....but the Steelers didn,t play the game this year. Arians was clearly pissed that he didn't go out on his out terms....he tended to be bull-headed about running the offense, then why would it be a stretch that he would react negatively to being told he was not welcome in Pittsburgh? Arians wanted to stick it to Pittsburgh via statements in the media and signing immediately somewhere else. So to me Arians should never have floated the "retirement" term to begin with and the Steelers would not have used it to give him a "softer" exit.
