Lotusman2013: Al Everest coaches the Special Teams, not Dick LeBeau. Also, Johnson has some skills in pass coverage and was used as a Nickel Linebacker with the Bengals. Hopefully, the 6’5″ 245 lb. Johnson will likely be used accordingly in said area if he picks up the Defensive schemes quick enough over the next few months. In a perfect world, Johnson could keep the seat warm in Nickel and Dime sub-packages before Spence is ready to play, and provide pressure when he is needed to get after the passer.

Former Bengals Linebacker Brandon Johnson was not acquired merely as “fodder” for Dick LeBeau to use for Special Teams, though that IS the likely role he will play this Season. He was acquired so that The Steelers could “pick his brain” in regard to The Bengals Defensive Schemes, & what knowledge he has of their Offensive System as well.
The Steelers are definitely AWARE of the Level of Talent that the UPSTART Bengals are assembling.
And want to be darn sure they have the RIGHT “Bullets in The Gun”, when they face, & DEFEAT them Both times this Season!
