Well we are just two days shy of training camp, and the Steelers finally were able to sign David DeCastro to his rookie contract. Don’t blame the FO on this one. Rookie deals are pretty much set in comparison to the last rookie drafted after them on the draft board. The rookies in the first round in general have taken quite some time to work their deals out – bringing a backlog to the whole system. (A wonderful addition to the new CBA)
The Detroit Lions finally signed Riley Reiff to his deal Monday. Thus, the way was paved for the Steelers and DeCastro to negotiate a deal. DeCastro’s deal is worth $7.8 million. DeCastro was the last of the Steelers’ draftees to be signed. DeCastro is also the next to last person to finalize a contract with the team. Who’s the last one that has yet to sign a deal? Oh I think you know who…..
