Will The Steelers Sign Any More Open Market Free Agents?

The Steelers are slowly re-signing their own players, questionable choices and sound ones alike, but have yet to really make an high impact signing with some of the holes left by releases or losing someone to another team.  The salary cap is certainly complicating the options available to the Steelers, but there are some players out there that can realistically join this squad.

Victor Butler and Ahmad Bradshaw are players who are still on the market and are a good fit for what the Steelers need at LB and RB.  But will the team be able to make a strong play for either or both?  Or, will a team like the Saints sneak in and take Butler?

Doubt it..The Colbert ship is sinking fast..and Ben has the only life vest

The only one really worth going after is Butler for insurance purposes in the event that Worilds, Carter, and Robinson cannot play productive football. Unfortunately, Butler is likely to get a more lucrative offer elsewhere (i.e. w/the Saints) unless the Steelers offer him something like a starting gig or extended playing time.

Bradshaw would be a nice stop-gap at Running Back. But unless he can be inked to a performance-based deal, I would rather see Colbert & Co. add a younger and cheaper Zone-runner through the Draft process.

With the way last season ended and the team’s salary cap situation, Pittsburgh does not seem to be an ideal place for a Free Agent to go if they want big money or to go to a contending (in 2013) team.

Those are my 2 cents on the situation.
