Here’s some of the news in the last day or so concerning the Steelers.  Is everyone ready for the NFL draft this week?

These has been much talk about how the Draft Class of 2008 was a bust for the Steelers.  Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette adds his perspective, particularly looking at Rashard Mendenhall and Ryan Munday.

The Restricted Free Agent signing period is over.  The most high profile moves/offers where for Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders.  However, overall as Ed Florio paraphrases T.S. Eliot:

"It began with a whimper and ended with a whimper.”"

I agree, I thought there would be more activity around the league.  I suspect we can call this the “salary cap effect.”

Ben Roethlisberger’s radio interview is get a lot of “play” in various articles, particularly in how he understands the spotlight is on him:

Here’s one at ProFootballTalk where Ben says he likes being the hunted.

Here’s another one from 60 Max Power O, that works through Yardbarker where Ben’s comment about putting the burden on himself is highlighted.

In other news as the draft coverage spins up, Mike Farrell is a Penn State lineman also hoping to get a call during the draft.  It’s an interesting story for anyone following football news around the ‘burgh even though it isn’t specifically Steelers.  Here’s the piece from Mark Dent in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
