Starter: Ben Roethlisberger
The message is clear when it comes to the Quarterback position: Ben Roethlisberger is the starter. Ben Roethlisberger is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, and has the ability to carry the team on his back at all times. Before he was injured last year, Roethlisberger was playing better than most other quarterbacks in the NFL. After he was injured, he made some questionable decisions and couldn’t seem to get his groove back. Todd Haley, as well as the rest of the Steelers organization hope that Roethlisberger will return to form. In case he doesn’t make it through the entire 2013 season, the Steelers signed Pittsburgh native Bruce Gradkowski. Gradkowski is a mobile, average arm quarterback that can manage the game if Ben is not able to play. Also, the Steelers recently drafted Landry Jones in the fourth round of the NFL draft. Jones will be a project, but with his physical talent, Jones could develop into a solid backup for Roethlisberger, or even take over for Roethlisberger when he retires.
Several teams struggle to find a franchise quarterback, but the Steelers are fortunate to say that they already have theirs in Roethlisberger.
