News continues to be scarce.  There are plenty of blogs discussing how things might shape up this season as well as what the Steelers should do to “fix things.”  We all enjoy speculating about our team.  It gets us through the summer, right?  Here are a few interesting things I found around the ‘net.

Maurkice Pouncey tops list of future offensive stars

Jaimeson Hensley, who blogs about the AFC North for ESPN.com, summarized the future stars in the division based on an article form ESPN Insiders.  The study is looking three years into the future – talk about speculation!  Sure, these can be considered educated guesses, but injuries are hard to predict.   Hensley looks at several players on the Insiders list and the one Steeler he discusses is Maurkice Pouncey, who is Number 1 for the offensive line future stars.  Pouncey deserves some attention.  The offensive line rarely gets singled out, but when Pouncey has been out due to injury, the difference is notable.

Jarvis Jones Understand the Steelers Way

Jarvis Jones was on the NFL network’s NFL AM show on Tuesday morning.  Jones is certainly saying the right things.  I don’t know if he has a good PR coach or if this is the way he is, but saying he is just working as hard as he can to be ready when they need him to play is what we want to hear out of the rookies.  In my opinion, Jones has to be tired of the questions he is getting about how he would feel if he doesn’t start this year.  Being a first round draft pick is probably a great feeling until the draft is over.  Then you have to battle the expectations.  Personally, I think it is wrong to have huge expectations for any rookie because very few make a seamless transition from college.  I’m not saying it can’t be done, but I want to see Jarvis Jones contribute when he is ready and not struggle because he gets put in before he is 100% ready to compete.  Hopefully, injuries won’t force the issue.
