The Steelers and Their Current 53-Man Roster

With all of the recent roster-trimming activities, this is what the Steelers’ 2013 53-man roster will look like on “Opening Day:”

Ben Roethlisberger, Bruce Gradkowski, Landry Jones

Running Backs

Isaac Redman, Felix Jones, LaRod Stephens-Howling, Le’Veon Bell

Will Johnson, David Johnson (TE)

Tight Ends

Heath Miller, Matt Spaeth, David Paulson, Michael Palmer

Wide Receivers

Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders, Jerricho Cotchery, Markus Wheaton, Derek Moye

Offensive Linemen

Mike Adams, Ramon Foster, Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, Marcus Gilbert, Kelvin Beachum, John Malecki, Guy Whimper

Defensive Linemen

Ziggy Hood, Steve McLendon, Brett Keisel, Cameron Heyward, Al Woods, Hebron Fangupo

LaMarr Woodley, Larry Foote, Lawrence Timmons, Jason Worilds, Jarvis Jones, Chris Carter, Kion Wilson, Vince Williams

Ike Taylor, Cortez Allen, William Gay, Curtis Brown, Isaiah Green

Ryan Clark, Troy Polamalu, Robert Golden, Shamarko Thomas, Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith

Shaun Suisham (K), Drew Butler (P), Greg Warren (LS)

As far as the roster is concerned, I am not surprised that the team took Heath Miller off of the PUP list.  The offense needs his presence as soon as possible, so it is worth the risky gambit to carry him on the 53-man roster.  The single “PUP active for return” tag appears to either be waiting for Matt Spaeth or Le’Veon Bell, and the Steelers appear comfortable to use Michael Palmer on a special teams role early in the season.  Kudos must go to the likes of Palmer, Felix Jones, Drew Butler, Kion Wilson, Chris Carter, Hebron Fangupo, Isaiah Green, and David Johnson for holding off their competition to earn spots at hotly contested positions on Pittsburgh’s 53-man roster as well.
