Not even five minutes into the 2013 season, injury had struck the offensive line. During a run play to the left, David DeCastro went to cut the Titans defender that center Maurkice Pouncey was engaged with, but instead, he ended up taking out Pouncey’s knee.

Pouncey was carted out of the stadium, and Ed Bouchette earlier tweeted:

With Pouncey looking to be out for the foreseeable future, the Steelers have Kelvin Beachum and recently acquired Cody Wallace as options for the center spot. While Beachum did not play awful against the Titans, he is very inexperienced at the position, and he may not be the best option at center, with virtually no depth at the other offensive line positions. Center John Malecki was cut, due to the signing of center Cody Wallace, whom the Steelers apparently felt was better than Malecki. It remains to be seen whether or not the Steelers will keep Beachum at center, but as the week goes on, the decision will definitely reveal itself.

Right now, we don’t even know what Pouncey’s injury is, but from the looks of it, we may not be seeing the youngest Steelers captain anymore in the 2013-2014 season.
