After he participated in practice for the second time in as many days, it certainly looks like Ramon Foster will get the start at left guard for the Steelers on Sunday afternoon against the New England Patriots. Although Foster seems to be over the concussion he sustained against the Raiders last Sunday, David DeCastro’s bum ankle is still giving him problems.

Pittsburgh’s starting right guard was unable to participate in practice for the second consecutive day, and it is becoming evident that the ankle injury he suffered in Oakland could keep him sidelined this weekend.

If in fact DeCastro is unable to suit up for Sunday’s game in Foxborough, the Steelers will have to turn to another player who is coming off of an injury in Oakland in the form of Guy Whimper (“Abdullah”) according to Jim Wexell of SteelCityInsider.net:

Whimper, who hyper-extended his knee against the Raiders and had to leave the game, has participated fully in Pittsburgh’s last two practices and will be the top choice to replace DeCastro if he is unable to play. As Wexell alluded to however, the Steelers will have to rely on the seven-year veteran to take the place of arguably their best offensive lineman.

I just hope that nothing happens to Whimper if that scenario occurs, especially since the depth behind him will be razor-thin.
