The false trade rumors and snarky whispers about his future with the Pittsburgh Steelers did not seem to faze Ben Roethlisberger when he took the field last weekend. In fact, “Big Ben” put on his best performance of the 2013 regular season against the Detroit Lions and was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his fantastic play according to Steelers.com.

Overall, Pittsburgh’s signal-caller put up some impressive numbers as he went 29-of-45 for 367 yards and four touchdowns. “Big Ben” carved Detroit’s secondary with a no-huddle/hurry-up attack, and he played well in the most crucial of situations.

Down 27-23, Roethlsiberger led the offense 97 yards on 16 plays to score a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter. On Pittsburgh’s following drive, Ben went for broke and found Jerricho Cotchery for a 20 yard touchdown pass on a perfectly thrown ball down the sidelines on a crucial 3rd and 6 with just over 2:30 to play.

With a stellar stat line, clutch plays converted, and a “W,” kudos must go to Roethlisberger and the rest of Pittsburgh’s offense for their solid play last Sunday afternoon.
