1. What has been the biggest reason behind Green Bay’s recent two-game win streak?
It’s two things really. First, this team seems to go as the defense goes. When the Packers didn’t win a game in November, their defense was playing awful. They dropped from the third-ranked run defense to the 24th in the league. They were giving up big plays left and right and had numerous missed tackles in the open field. This just didn’t look good.
In the last two weeks, the defense gave up a lot of yards in the first halves of both games. Atlanta scored 21 points in the first half and drove the ball downfield with ease. However, the defense came out in the second half and shutout the Falcons the rest of the game, which allowed Green Bay’s offense to get back in the game and take the lead.
Against Dallas, it was a similar situation. In the second half, the defense made some big stops and forced two key turnovers to spearhead a Packers’ comeback win after being down 26-3 at halftime.
The second reason for the Packers’ recent success, is the improved play of Matt Flynn. With Aaron Rodgers out, the Packers have been really struggling at the quarterback position. At times, Flynn has looked all right. He had good second halves against Atlanta and Dallas. Green Bay needs him to play really well to have a chance to win.
