2014 UFAs, The Pittsburgh Steelers and Who Should Stay

It is time to focus on free agency and the draft now that the 2013 regular season is finished. The rebuilding Pittsburgh Steelers will have 21 unrestricted free agents (UFAs) to deal with during the upcoming offseason, and the decisions regarding whether or not to sign them will be extremely crucial for the cap-strapped franchise.

Since I have some thoughts on how the franchise should approach their decision-making when it comes to their restricted free agents, I thought that it would be a good idea to share before the free agency talk gets into full swing.

I have divided the list of Pittsburgh’s soon-to-be UFAs into three sections centered around how important I believe each player is for the franchise to re-sign:


  • Must Re-Sign


  • Re-Sign at Reduced/Fiscally Responsible Rate


  • Allow to Walk


Don’t worry, I will provide a short summary on each player and discuss why I believe they fall into each section. So sit back, relax and let the debating begin:
