Remember when all appeared to be well and the Baltimore Ravens elected not to hire Pittsburgh’s running backs coach Kirby Wilson as their offensive coordinator earlier this morning?

At that time, it looked like the Steelers would be able to keep Wilson in town for at least one more season and their coaching staff appeared to be set for the 2014 campaign.

Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, Wilson might not be headed to Baltimore but he will be coaching elsewhere this fall according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

With Wilson gone, the Steelers will be forced to replace their veteran running backs coach who manned the position on the staff since the 2007 season. Why Pittsburgh’s brass allowed Wilson to leave town is definitely questionable, especially since he assumed a larger role in the team’s offense towards the end of last year.

Regardless of the reasons why Wilson left, he is now heading to Minnesota to coach the Vikings’ running back corps led by All-Pro Adrian Peterson. The Steelers on the other hand will be left to replace the loss of one of their best assistant coaches.
