Steelers Listed at 40/1 to Win Super Bowl XLIX

Now that we got that pesky Super Bowl out of the way we can focus on more important things, like what the odds are the Steelers will be holding that Sticky Lombardi next February. Fortunately for us, gambling runs this country, or at least this sport, so the fine folks at pregame.com have already released the odds for next years’ Super Bowl.
Not surprisingly, the Seattle Seahawks opened the odds at 7/1 favorites to go back-to-back as Super Bowl Champions. The Broncos aren’t far behind at 8/1. With one of the youngest rosters in the league, and the fourth-youngest roster in Super Bowl history to win, it’s not a stretch to think that the Seahawks could very well be back next year. The Broncos, well, you never know when Peyton’s neck is going to give and how much longer he can be effective. If you can call how he played in the Super Bowl effective.
Way down towards the bottom of the list sit the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are 40/1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIX. Pretty fair ranking considering we all still have no idea what exactly the 2014 Steelers roster is even going to look like. Pretty much over half the team are unrestricted free agents so there’s no telling who will be back and who the new faces will be.
While the end of 2013 season was definitely more positive than its beginning, it’s certainly tough to think they can build upon that late-season success when they will have a whole crop of new guys. On top of that there are new coaches to learn from as well. While the addition of Mike Munchak and James Saxon are no doubt going to benefit the Steelers, there are still lots of question marks along the defensive side of the ball, which was cause for a lot of the failures in 2013. Lots of things up in the air for the Steelers, which makes the 40/1 odds make a whole lot of sense.
The teams with the worst odds to win next year are the Jaguars and Raiders, who are both 200/1 odds to win the Super Bowl in 2015. Odd because the Raiders have such national appeal, don’t they?
Put your money down now because it could pay out big-time if the Steeler pull things together and deliver #7 to the trophy case.
