New Rules That Could Benefit/Hurt Pittsburgh Steelers

Expand Replay To Just About Everything

Stated Change: Re-organize the rules about what can be reviewed and what cannot be reviewed, including making the recovery of a loose ball in the field of play reviewable. (This is referred to as the NaVorro Bowman rule, after a controversial call in the NFC Championship Game.)

Oh my.  This is a huge one.  What I wouldn’t give for this rule to be instated.  How many times have we all sat at the TV and yelled our heads off and almost threw a brick through the screen when we heard the ref get on the mic and said, “By rule, this play is not reviewable.”  What the heck is the point of stopping the game and having instant replay if you can’t review just about any down that is ever played, no matter the outcome.  Look no one wants these games to get any longer.  But, I think it’s safe to say that I speak for most NFL fans when I say we would rather see the called be right and sacrifice a few more minutes in a game for that to happen.  How would this benefit the Steelers?  Can you say San Diego Chargers illegal formation against the Kansas City Chiefs?  Yeah, would have been wonderful if Andy Reid could have reviewed that non-call of a penalty.
