3 Men Acquitted For Stabbing Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Adams

The trial of the three men accused of the June 2013 stabbing of Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Mike Adams has concluded with primarily acquittals across the board.

The Pittsburgh Tribune Review is reporting that the jury foreman read the verdicts for Michael Paranay, Jerrell Whitlock, and Dquay Means and only Whitlock and Means were convicted of the charges of fleeing police/escape. There were “not guilty” verdicts across the board for the charges of aggravated assault, attempted robbery, and conspiracy. The jury deliberated for 5 hours.

Pittsburgh prosecutors argued that Adams was stabbed in an attempted carjacking while the defense argued that a fight began between Adams and the men when Adams knocked food out of Paranay’s hands. The defense’s lawyers also claimed that Adams was drunk and he lied to investigators to avoid repercussions with the Steelers.

Seems as though that the credibility of Adams was definitely in question in the jury’s minds even though he did totally still get stabbed. I can’t really understand the logic here. If the defendants admitted to being in the fight, and only one guy got stabbed out of the whole thing, why is it no one gets convicted of the stabbing? I might need to watch a few more episodes of Law & Order to figure this one out.

I doubt the outcome of the trial will have bearing on Adams’ status with the Steelers. How well he improves from last season’s performance, however, just might.
