2014 NFL Draft: AFC North Picks, Rounds 2 & 3
Baltimore Ravens
Round 2, 48th Overall: Timmy Jernigan, NT Florida State

The Ravens go pick for pick with the Steelers in the first two rounds – ILB for ILB and now DL for DL (although Jernigan is a NT). Jernigan is one strong dude, and led his last (and only healthy) season with the Noles in tackles for a loss.
"The Ravens stay true to their board. His size is a three-technique, but he plays better as a nose tackle. The Ravens just got more stout inside. -Mike Mayock"
The question is where Jernigan fits now in the roster? Ngata is still the main man at NT and is only 30. Ngata has two more years in his contract, but counts $7.5 mil in cap space in his final season. If Jernigan can prove his the future at NT for the Ravens, the Ravens may release the veteran to save a chunk of change going into 2015.
Round 3, 79th Overall: Terrence Brooks, FS Florida State

The Ravens are just all Seminole crazy on Friday by going with back to back Florida State players. Timmy Jernigan will be joined FS Terrence Brooks. Brooks is a pretty versatile athlete and was actually a two-way guy while playing for FSU. His biggest weakness is his tackling (like Ryan Clark inconsistent) and might make things dicey in the open field unless he gets help.
"Terrific pick right here. Brooks can run from the free safety position. He can blitz. He can play the center-field spot for you. – Charles Davis"
I’m not so sure how ‘terrific’ the pick is, but Jernigan does ad depth to the safety positions after it was left vapid by the exit of Ed Reed two seasons ago.
Round 3, 94th Overall (in trade with 49’ers): Terrance West, RB Towson
Ahhh, just when you thought the Browns had a plan going through the daft. And, just when you thought the Browns might have their crap together, they pretty much ramp it up a few notches in the wrong direction. The Browns took Terrance West out of Townson… after a trade to move up. Ok so the Browns could use a RB after the debacle that position has been for a while – some no namers and a washed up guy will help ya get ranked at 28th in the league in rush yards. So what does West bring?
Not much. He’s big and likes to run between the tackles. However, he lacks any explosiveness to help get those few extra yards. And he has a knack to fumble the football – try five times his junior year.
Round 3, 99th Overall (compensatory pick): Crockett Gillmore, TE Colorado State

The Ravens close out their 3rd round with a compensatory pick and take TE Crockett Gillmore. Gillmore is an athlete of all trades and has very good athleticism. Good blocker, good pass catcher. Think Heath Miller, Jr. who could develop into a full blown Miller type of TE.

That’s pretty much right and should be a good fit for the Ravens. They didn’t get Ebron in the first round, but they got a pretty good consolation with Gillmore. I like this pick and kind of wish (after seeing the Steelers 3rd round compensatory pick) that the Steelers took this guy instead.
