Steelers new defense poised to wreak havoc?

According to NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks they are. He details how the Steelers offseason and draft moves have them ready to return to being a team where the defense is feared instead of called “old, slow and done”. He lists three reasons plus their explanations as to why he believes the Steelers defense will be feared in the AFC North in 2014. His reasons are:

  1. The defensive line is better outfitted to win in the trenches
  2. The linebackers’ collective speed and athleticism will create chaos
  3. Mike Mitchell will be the “new” Troy Polamalu

Ramon Foster: team leader

Teresa Varley explains how Ramon Foster stepped up into a big leadership role with the Steelers last season following the injury to Maurkice Pouncey. He plans to remain in that leadership role, along with Pouncey, to lead the offensive line and the rest of the team in 2014.

"“You can’t just be a talker. If you are going to be a leader you have to do exactly as you are instructing the guys to do. That is one of my biggest things. I don’t just want to talk about it; I want to show them so they can follow my lead. The guys respect me and I respect them back. I think that is the biggest opponent for being a leader, having the respect of the guys that are around you that you are leading. It was a big step for me. People said I was a great leader, but that is just what I do. I am always trying to encourage guys, show them how it should be done and what is expected. I want to set the bar. Maybe what I’m doing here, me and Pouncey are doing, is setting things up for offensive lines down the years.” – Ramon Foster"
