Steelers Morning Huddle 6/6/14

Coming up is the month where there is absolutely no news to report what-so-ever, so be grateful for the limited amount of news being reported from OTA’s. Heres the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ryan Shazier Signed

First round pick Ryan Shazier has signed his rookie contract with the Steelers, posted by Dave Bryan of Steelers Depot. Even though we all knew this was going to happen, it’s better that they got it done well ahead of training camp. This allows them to focus on extending other key veterans such as Jason Worilds or Maurkice Pouncey. The Steelers have been pretty good the past couple seasons about getting all their draft picks signed before training camp, and it seems this year is no different.

Justin Brown Impressing

Again coming from Steelers Depot, Dave Bryan reports that Justin Brown continues to impress in the second OTA session. This is music to Steelers fans ears. The more reliable targets for Ben Roethlisberger, the better. Justin Brown is young, so he still has time to develop. It would be great to see Brown make the 53 man roster, and it sounds like he has the inside track to 5th WR spot. How awesome it would be to see Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton, Martavis Bryant and Justin Brown as 4 of the top 5 receivers on the Steelers roster. This gives a good mix of height, speed and quickness as they all have different skill sets. What a young receiving corps the Steelers have on their hands, with a lot of upside if they all continue to develop.
