Steelers Morning Huddle 6/20/14

Now that minicamp is coming to an end, we all have to endure the month long painstaking wait until we hear any news regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here’s the most recent news we could get out to our beloved Steeler and NPC fans.

Will Johnson

If you haven’t noticed, I love using SteelersDepot.com as a reference for all the latest news I portray to my readers, and this post is no exception. Matthew Marczi of Steelers Depot reports that the Steelers are looking to use fullback Will Johnson more in the no-huddle offense this coming season. After a promising rookie season for a fullback, his sophomore season didn’t see such success, largely because Todd Haley didn’t find ways to use him in the offense. Going into his third season, Johnson looks like the jack of all trades, as he is now in both the tight end and running back room. This will make opposing defense second guess themselves with Johnson on the field, whether he will block for the running back, go out wide for a pass as a tight end, or even the occasional carry Haley might reward him with.

Stephen Tuitt Comparisons

If you haven’t heard, defensive line coach recently compared rookie defensive end Stephen Tuitt to Steeler great Aaron Smith. Wow, what a comparison! What a steal the Steelers got if Tuitt has anything close to the career Smith had. Scott Brown wrote an article discussing Tuitt’s reactions to the comment and how the pressure of being compared to an all time great defensive end will only help him. Not many reports have come out about Tuitt during OTA’s and minicamp. This could be that he is just learning his way through the defense like every other Steeler rookie not named Ryan Shazier.
