Steelers Morning Huddle 7/1/2014

Steelers season goes all year long so whether we’re previewing training camp, predicting roster moves, or looking around for mentions of your Black & Gold we’ve got you covered. Here’s what’s being said about your Pittsburgh Steelers around the block.

Worth the wait

According to Bob Labriola of the Steelers Digest, the people who have been waiting the longest on the Steelers season ticket holder waiting list will get the first crack at the new seats being added in the South Plaza. The additional scoreboard construction is coming along nicely and Steelers President Art Rooney II expects to add between 2,500-3,000 additional seats. The construction includes raising the South Plaza and the seats will be full seats and not bleachers so those fans that’ve been waiting for season tickets to open up will have first dibs on buying seat licenses for the new addition.

Mike Mitchell’s chip

ESPN’s Scott Brown explains that there is a perception that Steelers free agent acquisition Mike Mitchell’s improved stats from last year with the Carolina Panthers was due to the front seven he played behind. Because of that, he explains that he plays with a chip on his shoulder.

“I don’t really care about Pro Bowl. I want to be an All-Pro. I have to do what I did last year again plus better. A lot of times last year people were talking about the front seven I played with and they were very talented. Sometimes you’re overlooked, but that’s just another chip to put on my shoulder and play football.” – Mike Mitchell
