Steelers season goes all year long so whether we’re previewing training camp, predicting roster moves, or looking around for mentions of your Black & Gold we’ve got you covered. Here’s what’s being said about your Pittsburgh Steelers around the block.

TE Position Preview

Scott Brown of ESPN continues his preview of the position groups heading into Steelers training camp. This edition features the tight ends. When it comes down to it we have Heath Miller and a bunch of other guys. The Steelers drafted Rob Blanchflower in the seventh round of the draft out of UMass and he has a legitimate shot to make the 53-man roster. Which in it of itself is a good indication on the quality of the rest of the group of tight ends.

Is Troy Polamalu a HOF’er?

Ray Fittipaldo of the PPG takes a look at the still in progress career of Steelers safety Troy Polamalu for the debate on whether he’s a sure fire Hall of Famer one day. Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against Polamalu in more ways than one. First off, the last safety to be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame was Ronnie Lott back in 2000. The overwhelming majority of the defensive backs in the hall are cornerbacks, not safeties. Fittipaldo compares Polamalu’s stats against the seven safeties that are currently in the hall and he falls short. He also compares Polamalu statistically to Ed Reed, the player Polamalu is most commonly compared to and again Polamalu stats fall short. So, when it comes down to it, statistically speaking alone Polamalu will probably have an uphill battle to get into the hall of fame but the best thing he’s got going for him is the fact that he plays the game like no one else and that should go a long way in the minds of voters.

Hines Ward getting married at Heinz Field

According to KDKA, former Steelers WR Hines Ward is making a return trip to Heinz field this month. He’ll be there to wed his fiancé Lindsey Georgalas. Let’s hope the day goes as successful as his playing career there and not at all like The Dark Knight.
