Kelvin Beachum is the saving grace of this Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line.  Though it is not his official nickname, Beachum truly is the “Swiss Army Knife” of linemen for this offense.  He’s been put just about anywhere, and has done considerably well.  During the Mike Adams debacle over at left tackle, and with the Steelers opting to not bring back a veteran like Max Starks to guard Ben Roethlisberger’s blind side, Beachum landed at LT and is staying there.  Selected 192 picks after Adams, Beachum is far superior with his consistency to seal off the edge of any pass rusher looking to maul the Steelers franchise QB.  This unsung player probably has a special place in the heart of Steeler Nation for being so versatile and being able to hold down the LT spot (where he played at SMU) – especially since they had Levi Brown to look forward to were he to not land himself on the IR.  Beachum’s expectations are very high this season.  With Guy Whimper as the backup LT, Beachum will need to stay healthy and excel under Munchak’s coaching.  Otherwise, things may begin to look very grim for #7 when dropping back to pass.  Beachum will be a free agent after 2015.  If he can continue to excel at the LT position, the Steelers will more than likely extend his contract prior to going into the 2015 season – that’s a big thing to strive for on a personal level.  Expect Beachum to do very well in 2014. .
