Steelers season goes all year long so whether we’re wrapping up the day of training camp, predicting roster moves, or looking around for mentions of your Black & Gold we’ve got you covered. Here’s what’s being said about your Pittsburgh Steelers around the block.

Goal line drill

As Teresa Varley reports, the Steelers had their goal-line drill as part of Saturday’s practice at Training Camp. The drill ended with a 3-3 tie with the offense scoring three times and the defense getting three stops. Vince Williams continues to bring the intensity in camp as he recorded some big hits during the drills on Saturday.

“I just feel that is what football is about. I love the contact. We all do really. That is just what I like to do. I try to bring that to the game. I love the energy. I love football. I try to play hard whenever I get the chance to.” – Vince Williams

Broken nose don’t stop Justin Brown

If anyone thinks the Steelers wide receiving group is having a tight competition for roster spots you’d be correct. Not even a broken nose is keeping wide receiver Justin Brown off of the practice field for very long explains ESPN’s Scott Brown. Justin broke his nose during Thursday’s practice while trying to block safety Shamarko Thomas. He had surgery to repair the broken nose on Friday and was back out on the field on Saturday.

Fans and players bond at camp

As Hayes Gardner of the PPG explains, training camp is a special experience for fans. Whether it’s the scenery, the affordability, or the price (free), training camp is an experience that Steelers fans can’t help but enjoy. Quite possibly the biggest enjoyment of the experience of training camp is how close fans can get to their favorite Steelers. What fans might not know, is how much enjoyment the players get from the same experience. Lawrence Timmons, now a veteran of the Steelers defense, knows how much the fans cheers and camp fuel the players as they train and prepare for the season.

“Great aura around. The fans make you feel uplifted somehow. You want to make them happy. You hear the cheers and the oohs and ahs. That’s what it’s all about.” – Lawrence Timmons
