Roster moves

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced some roster moves made on Monday afternoon. The team signed offensive lineman Graham Pocic and cornerback Dayonne Nunley. They waived-injured offensive lineman Bryant Browning and released wide receiver James Shaw. The NFL gave the deadline of Aug. 26 at 4pm ET to cut rosters to 75 and the final roster cuts are due by Saturday, Aug. 30th at 4pm ET.

Shazier perfect for LeBeau

In Peter King’s MMQB he speculates that based on the performance of Ryan Shazier in his first preseason game with the Steelers Saturday night, that the rookie linebacker from Ohio State could be Dick LeBeau’s “perfect” linebacker. Particularly, Shazier’s ability to run with TE Scott Chandler and reach for the interception showed his player instincts to be pretty much in line with what the Steelers defense is all about. I sure wouldn’t hate seeing more plays like that from Shazier.

Jarvis Jones returns to practice

According to ESPN’s Scott Brown, the Steelers may have their complete starting defense on the field against Philadelphia on Thursday night. Jarvis Jones, who missed the game against Buffalo due to a groin injury, returned to practice on Monday and is expected to play Thursday night according to Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler.

"“He looked good in practice. We need to get Jason Worilds and Jarvis in there at the same time and get them ready to play.” – Keith Butler"
