Pittsburgh Steelers Top Cleveland Browns: Instant Reaction

Whew! Thank you Shaun Suisham for bailing the Pittsburgh Steelers out from what could have been a horrendous game blown. The Steelers outlasted the Browns with a 41-yard field goal kick as time expired. This game certainly was a tale of two halves.

The Steelers came out in the first half and aside from a dumb throw by Ben Roethlisberger that resulted in an interception and a holding penalty by Kelvin Beachum that negated a touchdown, everything went the Steelers way. The team had 364 total yards of offense at the end of the first half and limited the Browns to just 101 yards. They went into halftime with a 27-3 lead.

Also this happened.

Then, the second half began and the wheels just about came damned near off of the bus. The Browns came out and scored two touchdowns in the first six minutes of the second half. The Steelers defense gave up 194 yards and 17 points to the Browns in the third quarter alone. It seriously was as if the teams switched uniforms in the locker rooms at halftime. The Browns, under Brian Hoyer, ran their no-huddle seamlessly and effectively. And the Steelers offense couldn’t convert a third down to save their friggin lives.

The Steelers owned the Browns in the first half and then again in the final two minutes. The teams had a field position battle going for the majority of the fourth quarter when the Steelers took over around midfield with just under a minute remaining. After a big catch by Markus Wheaton to get within range the Steelers were able to get Suisham out there and get the hell off of the field with the W.

Le’Veon Bell had almost 200 combined rushing and receiving yards and Antonio Brown finished with 116 receiving yards. Ben Roethlisberger wen 23-34 for 365 yards a touchdown and an interception. He was also sacked four times for a total of 27 yards lost, the offensive line and defensive line collectively sucked donkey balls in the second half of the game.

The Steelers now have a short week as they’ll face the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night in Baltimore.
