Lance Moore returns to practice
The Steelers have been without their free agent acquisition wide receiver Lance Moore through the first two games of the season. This week, as Teresa Varley describes, Moore returns back to the practice field and is intent on returning to the playing field on Sunday night. It has to have been frustrating for him as well as the rest of the offense as he went into Training Camp and Preseason as the third wide receiver option. He missed the final two preseason games and the first two regular season game so far and is itching to get back on the field.

Steelers film study
ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown took a look over the game field from the Steelers 26-6 loss to the Ravens on Thursday night. The man conclusions are simple; the Steelers didn’t stop the Ravens enough. The more complex explanation of that is that the team failed on their basic principles of the defense which are to stuff the run, get to the quarterback, force the team to be one-dimensional and capitalize from it. What they should have done against the Ravens was to stop them on the early downs, forcing them into 3rd and long situations. The Ravens were able to face only four third downs on their touchdown drives. None of those third downs were longer than four yards. That’s definitely not the way to stop a team defensively.
Steelers not getting immediate return on investments
The Trib’s Alan Robinson explains how the Steelers spent about $137 million this offseason adding free agents, signing the rookie class, and re-signing original players such as Marcus Gilbert and Cortez Allen. What do they have to show for it after two games? Nothing, because in Pittsburgh a 1-1 record very much stands for 0-5 already and because they haven’t been able to stop the run so far, it means the rookies and free agent signings are complete and total failures who won’t ever amount to anything. But we aren’t overreacting or anything. That would be crazy. It’s only been two games.
