Gilbert’s starting job safe
ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown said that in spite of allowing four sacks already through the first two games of the season, right tackle Marcus Gilbert isn’t in jeopardy of losing his starting position. The team expects the 26-year-old former second-round draft pick who signed a five-year, $26 million contract extension this offseason, to rebound from that bad performance before he would be in danger of losing his starting position to the backup. The backup happens to be Mike Adams so perhaps that might have something to do with it.
Carolina unsure if Greg Hardy will play
While most, if not all teams who experience a player or two having some off the field legal issues hide being the all-powerful statement of due process. When it comes to the Carolina Panthers and DE Greg Hardy, they haven’t been consistent at all. The Panthers played Hardy, who was signed with their franchise tag this offseason, in the first game of the season. After scrutiny over how the league seems to be handling players who have domestic violence arrests/charges/convictions the Panthers decided to de-activate Hardy before their game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Per Darin Gantt of PFT, the team is currently unsure as to how they’re going to proceed with Hardy for the time being. While it’s early in the week, the team is noncommittal so far as to if Hardy will suit up against the Steelers on Sunday night.
Kaboly’s film review
The Trib’s Mark Kaboly reviewed the game film from the Pittsburgh Steelers’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens in an attempt to identify the main issues. Just as we suspected the tackling was piss-poor. Kaboly describes that the Steelers missed a total of sixteen tackles that translated into 93 more yards for Baltimore. Kaboly says that the biggest missed tackle culprit was safety Mike Mitchell, who’s missed tackles resulted in 41 yard gains for the Ravens.
