Questions with Wheaton
Teresa Varley spoke with Steelers wide receiver Markus Wheaton about having a chance to contribute more to the team now this season as well as his relationship with Ben Roethlisberger. The second-year receiver had a lack-luster rookie campaign that was hampered with a finger injury that required multiple surgeries. He came into this season to fill the spot vacated by Emmanuel Sanders and so far has already caught more passes than he did all of last season. He’s grateful to finally be contributing to the Steelers offense.

Foster questionable for Panthers game
Steelers guard Ramon Foster injured his ankle early in the week of practice and has been limited throughout the week. According to ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown, Foster is considered questionable for Sunday night’s game with Cody Wallace ready to step in if needed. Everyone right now knock on some wood and hope that this is the extent of offensive line injuries the Steelers will have to deal with this year. For once that would be nice.
Shotgun!
The Trib’s Mark Kaboly reviewed the game tape from the Steelers’ first two games. His conclusion of the Steelers offense so far, besides them being inconsistent, is that they’re running a heck of a lot of plays from the shotgun. They are running and throwing the ball pretty equally and from Kaboly’s summation they’re doing it successfully. He says that almost 85 percent of the Steelers’ total offensive yards have come out of the shotgun formation. Now about that consistency…
