Steelers Le’Veon Bell Is NFL’s Best Says Future Hall Of Famer

Pittsburgh Steelers young stud running back Le’Veon Bell has been on a tear over the first three weeks of the season.  He’s looking like one of the best backs in the NFL right now, and there’s very little arguing against that notion.  In fact, a former great NFL running back and future hall of fame’r is nothing short of gushing over the 2nd year man out of Michigan State.

Former San Diego Charger and New York Jet LaDainian Tomlinson is a regular on the NFL Network.  He gave his own thoughts on Bell during a segment on NFL Total Access Tuesday:

"Let me just say this: Right now, I would take Le’Veon Bell over any running back in the league… He can do it all, people. He can run inside, he has the speed to turn the corner, he can catch the football, he’s versatile, he’s athletic. I love Le’Veon Bell."

Steeler Nation loves him right now too.  I must admit I was unsure about his selection in last year’s draft.  My biggest concern about him was his ability to shoulder the running load and his body hold up.  He had an insane amount of carries his final year at Michigan State – 382 times.  He suffered a foot injury during the preseason that kept him out for the first three weeks of his rookie season.  He did nothing but prove his detractors wrong all season long.  He finished just shy of wining Offensive Rookie of the Year over Packers running back, Eddie Lacy.

This season has been magical thus far.  Le’Veon Bell has steamrolled over two teams – one of them being the 2nd best defense the previous season.  Tomlinson is absolutely right.  His skill set is strong (this kid’s cuts are so clean it’s scary sometimes), and his offseason work is paying huge dividends.  Should Bell stay healthy all season long, we could very well be looking at the NFL’s leading rusher by season’s end.  That will be the first time that has ever happened in the modern era Steelers.  A Steeler hasn’t lead in rushing since Bill Dudley in 1946.  Dudley ran for just over 600 yards in 11 games.

With other backs struggling early this season – McCoy and Charles to name a couple – Bell could very well find himself at the top.  Not that other’s struggles takes away an accomplishment from someone like Bell, but it certainly is worth mentioning.

NFL’s best?  We’ll see, but Le’Veon Bell is well on his way.

Just don’t put him on the next cover of Madden…..
