Ryan Shazier out for Sunday

There’s good news and bad news out of Steelers practice this week. The good news, according to ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown, is that Steelers rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier returned to practice this week. The bad news is that he’s already ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Browns. Shazier has been nursing a knee injury since the Carolina game and started seeing some practice action for the first time this week on a limited basis. The Steelers have already ruled him out for Sunday, him and safety Shamarko Thomas will be inactive which means that either rookie Martavis Bryant or Daniel McCullers could be activated. The Steelers offense could certainly use the 6’4” red zone target in Bryant as well as the 6’7” beast of a man that McCullers is on the defensive line. Should be interesting to see who makes the active roster for the game.

Steelers defense ready for Browns no-huddle

Mark Kaboly of the Trib reminds us how the Browns use of the no-huddle offense in the second half of their first game caught the Steelers defense completely off guard. Off guard to the tune of watching a 27-3 lead be erased. This time around, however, the defense plans to anticipate going up against a hurry-up offense more often. I should hope so. According to how much the Steelers offense likes to run and practice the no-huddle, the Steelers defense should see plenty of it during the practice week already.
