Pittsburgh Steelers Week 6 Winners and Losers

What an embarrassing loss to a team we beat less than 6 weeks ago. I’m at a loss of words for the embarrassing outing the Steelers put on on Sunday. As we have many times this year, there are many losers, but we will look at the biggest losers of the game.

Winners

Antonio Brown

After it seemed like the Steelers had forgotten about their All Pro receiver in the first half, the play calling rebounded in Browns favor, as he finished with 7 receptions for 119 yards, keeping his streak alive.

Le’Veon Bell

Bell finished the day with 82 rushing yards. After pretty much running 9 out of 10 plays in the first half, the Steelers slowed down in the second and got in their receivers hands. Bell ended up with a total of 105 yards.

Lawrence Timmons

The only defender who deserves to be on this list, Timmons was consistently around the ball and finished with 10 total tackles.

Losers

Cortez Allen

After it seemed the Allen had turned the corner last week with his best outing of the season, he went right back to his old ways against the Browns, consistently being targeted and allowing reception after reception. The biggest one was when he allowed tight end Jordan Cameron cut right to the middle and beat him for a long touchdown.

Cam Thomas

Thomas is about to get replaced by a second rookie, at De, in Dick Lebeau’s system. If that doesn’t give you an idea of how Cam Thomas has played this year, I don’t know what will. He is just another player on the field with absolutely no impact. This can’t be what the Steelers pictured when they signed him.

Markus Wheaton

Wheaton, I put some of the blame on Roethlisberger for consistently trying to give you the ball, but the Browns secondary were glued to you Sunday. Take off the jerseys and you couldn’t tell who was the receiver at points. Still need to take that next step into becoming a reliable 2nd receiver.

Offensive Play Calling

We ran the ball, and ran the ball, and ran the ball. And our leading ran for 82 yards. The strategy was obviously to run the ball down their throats with DT Phil Taylor out of the game, and it backfired. It took the ball out of Ben’s hands, and when he did throw it, it wasn’t to our best offensive weapon Antonio Brown. Maybe looking for a new offensive coordinator next season if things don’t change soon.
