Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward wasn’t done with his criticism of the Steelers offense apparently. He could have stopped at reiterating Bill Cowher’s comments that the defense was “soft” and the offense was “finesse” but decided to take it a step further and jump in on the whole #BlameHaley debate to say that it’s really Ben Roethlisberger’s fault if the offense isn’t working. According to PFT’s Mike Florio, Hines thinks that if Ben’s calling his plays in the no-huddle and the team still isn’t getting in the end zone, he’s to blame.

Bruce Arians didn’t see “retirement” coming

Bruce Arians never realized that all he had to do to get the love and adoration from yinzers everywhere was to “retire” from the Steelers in 2012. But, as ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown points out, Arians didn’t expect to be departing from Pittsburgh at that time. When called by head coach Mike Tomlin after the loss to the Denver Broncos in the 2011 AFC Wild Card Game, Arians thought he was getting a raise. Instead he got a “retirement” and then a new job opportunity when Chuck Pagano was hired as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and hired Arians on as the OC. Arians of course now coaches the Arizona Cardinals, a team notorious for signing former Pittsburgh Steelers players.

Ben and Haley too close?

That can’t be right. They’re supposed to hate each other right? CBS Sports weasel Jason La Canfora joined The Fan Morning Show on 93.7 on Thursday to discuss the Todd Haley and Ben Roethlisberger relationship. La Canfora explained that while once there was discussion over the two not getting along or not being close enough, now the conversation around the league has shifted to the possibility that Haley is deferring to Roethlisberger too much as opposed to taking the clear lead over the offensive strategies. Personally, I could give a crap if these two guys get a long or not and even though it is the slime ball La Canfora reporting this so it’s not exactly stone-cold-locked material, it would sort of explain things among the Steelers offense at this point. A team that is 4th in the league in overall offensive yards but 26th in scoring certainly sounds a lot like a ship without a captain. If the Steelers are going to visit the end zone again this season and try to make a habit of it, someone needs to stand up and lead the offense there.
