Ryan Shazier Returning, Steelers Fashion Show, Defense Capabilities

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a short week for Week 8 in the NFL coming off of their Monday Night Football win to face the Indianapolis Colts. While they’re preparing to win their first back-to-back games of the season we’re busy looking around for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Ryan Shazier returning
Ralph N. Paulk of the Trib explains that rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier is expected to play this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts after missing the last four games with a knee injury. He’ll be part of a defense trying to get after Andrew Luck, who has only been sacked eleven times so far this season.

Steelers style
The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted their annual fashion show on Friday night where the team and their families walk the runway in benefit of the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program and the Cancer Caring Center. Kelvin Beachum and Cam Heyward served as co-captains for the show and former Steelers running back Rocky Bleier even made an appearance to represent the team’s history. Bleier was one of the founders of the fashion show benefit in the 70s. Ross Ventrone won the night’s “Swag Award” while Brett Keisel’s kids won the “Junior Swag Award.” You can view a slideshow of the event here.
Steelers defensive capabilities
Realistic Steelers fans knew coming into this season that the defense was not going to be a defense capable of carrying the team. While the Steelers almost painstakingly avoid the term “rebuilding”, even they would agree that the defense is a unit in transition at least. ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown explains that the defense tightened up in the second half of the game against the Texans last week, and they could be capable of more. After giving up 80+ rushing yards in the first quarter against Houston, the Steelers defense allowed only 51 rushing yards and one touchdown over the final three quarters of the game, even forcing three turnovers. They’re going to need that kind of performance and more against a Colts team that’s been scoring and gaining tons of yardage.
